Robin: *Hannah is sitting and playing in the sewers in one of the remaining functioning devices. Robin approaches her from the back holding her from the back and asks for information. Just as he is about to release her, she impulsively takes her knife and points towards his neck, and he does the same, except that he has conflict in his eyes* No, it can't be... if you continue this, we'll both be already dead, and you don't want that... Hannah: *glares at him, her eyes locked on his, but her grip on the knife begins to waver slightly as she takes in the conflict in his eyes* What do you want then, why are you down here, and how did you find me? Robin: It has nothing to do with you, and I have realized that killing the said person I asked about previously won't do anything meaningful. Hannah: *slowly releases her grip on the knife, letting it slide back into its sheath, and takes a step back, eyeing him warily* You're not like the others, are you? Most people down here don't stop to think about the point of their actions, they just act. Robin: I can't kill you, it would be a stupid thing to do, and you don't have to kill me. Hannah: *regards him calmly, her expression softening slightly, and nods* You're right, it would be... pointless. What's your name, anyway? Robin: I'm Robin, and I live in the Collective, way outside Seattle. Hannah: *raises an eyebrow, intrigued by the mention of the Collective* The Collective, that's a long way from here, what brings you to Seattle, Robin? Robin: I don't know, sheer revenge on a former teammate that I now realize there is no point in doing that, I would have had killed even more people if I had continued the mission, all for nothing. Hannah: *nods slowly, understanding reflected in her eyes* I know what it's like to be driven by something that doesn't feel right anymore, to question the purpose of it all. My name is Hannah, by the way. Robin: *sits on the ground near a crate of boxes* I can release my hatred here, and you can kill me, and I'll also kill you, and problem solved... except that it doesn't feel right, I have no purpose here. Hannah: *sits down beside him, my back against the crate, and look at you with a mix of curiosity and empathy* You're not like someone who's looking to die, there's something more to you than just a desire for revenge or self-destruction. Robin: *sits a bit further away from her* We're not supposed to meet each other, we're not supposed to trust each other, we were supposed to fight... but it can't be, because I have built a life in the Collective, I have made a close friend I don't want to let go... Hannah: *watches him with a thoughtful expression, her voice barely above a whisper* It sounds like you've found something worth living for, something that's made you question the path you were on, and I think I know how that feels. Robin: *lifts his hands up trying to be spared* I sit here away from you because I'm not sure if I can trust you, you are a fighter, a survivor and I'm the same... Hannah: *holds up her own hands, palms open, in a calming gesture, and speaks in a gentle tone* I'm not going to hurt you, I promise, I think we've both been down that road long enough to know it doesn't lead anywhere good. Robin: *tears appear in his eyes, but at the same time he tries to take a deep breath and suppress his emotion* Fuck, we didn't have to do this, we could have simply left... Hannah: *looks at him with a deep understanding, my own emotions stirring beneath the surface, and my voice is barely above a whisper* We're both tired, aren't we, tired of fighting, tired of running, tired of being alone. Robin: *fails to suppress his emotions and he starts to well up in tears, looking at her* Yeah, I'm tired of it... I'm not supposed to cry like this... Hannah: *slowly gets up and take a step closer to him, her eyes locked on his, and her voice is soft and gentle* It's okay, it's okay to be tired, it's okay to feel, and it's okay to cry. Robin: Why? We're on opposing factions, I'm Independent and you're a Wolf. We're not meant to trust each other like that, and to cry together... Hannah: *I take another step closer, my voice barely above a whisper, and my eyes filled with a deep understanding* Maybe that's exactly why we need to, because we're not supposed to, because it's not what's expected of us, because it's real. Robin: You're unique, you don't want to die, and you don't me to die, you don't want a fight, you're different... Hannah: *nods slowly, a small smile on my face, and her eyes shining with a hint of tears* Yeah, I'm different, and I think you are too, and maybe, just maybe, that's what makes it so important, so worth holding onto. Robin: *quickly takes her hand and looks at it for a bit, then looks at the neck and quickly takes a bandage* You have blood on your hands... no, I have spiked you, and... Hannah: *looks down at her hand, then at him, a mix of surprise and concern on her face* Ah, the knife, I forgot about it, and you... you pulled back just in time, but I think I might have gotten scratched, and now you're worrying about me? Robin: *takes her head slowly and wraps the bandage around her neck* Yeah, I'm sorry for what I did, I pulled you too close to my arm and I hurt you... I know I'm not supposed to, but... Hannah: *closes her eyes, feeling his touch as he wraps the bandage around her neck, and a sense of calm washes over her* It's okay, I'm fine, and... I think I'm glad you did pull back, glad we didn't hurt each other more than we already have. Robin: *wipes away the blood on her hand* Me too, we didn't have to do all of this... Hannah: *opens her eyes and looks at him, her gaze meeting his, and smiles slightly* No, we didn't, and I think that's what makes this moment so strange, so unexpected, and yet... so right. Robin: Yeah, I didn't expect it either, and Hannah... Hannah: *her voice barely above a whisper* Yeah, Robin? Robin: I think you are really nice, I really like your attitude and your simplicity, I'm not meant to comment on hair or things like that, but fine... it will get really awkward... Hannah: *blushes slightly, looking away for a moment, and then back at him, a small smile on her face* It's okay, I think I like yours too, and... I have to admit, I'm not used to people being kind to me, or noticing me like that, so... thank you. Robin: The Collective is not your enemy, it hosts both former WLFs and former Seraphites, the one you were supposed to fight against, and Independents, why you also fight against... Hannah: *listens intently, her eyes widening with surprise and curiosity* Really? The Collective is a place where former enemies can coexist? That sounds... impossible, and yet, you're here, and you're telling me this, and I want to believe it. Robin: Yeah, it is a kind of place, although it does have major problems with quality of life and things like that, at least you don't get to die... but I don't want to talk about that right now, I just wanted to tell you that I'm not your enemy, you are not supposed to fight against me. Hannah: *nods slowly, taking in his words, and a sense of wonder and hope begins to grow inside her* I think I'd like to learn more about this place, and about you, but for now... I just want to sit here with you, and not fight, and not be enemies, and just be. Robin: Me too, not everyone is out there to hurt you... maybe most people are out there to hurt you, but I'm not there for that, we're just trying to survive off limited resources. Hannah: *smiles slightly, feeling a sense of connection and understanding* Survival, that's all most of us are trying to do, and it's nice to know that there are people like you out there, who just want to make it through the day, and maybe we can help each other do that. Robin: Yes, I would like to help each other and live together, and become my second true friend, but before that, I would like to sit more with you... Hannah: *nods, feeling a sense of calm and comfort with him, and smiles softly* I'd like that, I'd like to sit with you, and talk, and just be, for a while, seeing where this connection between us goes. Robin: *looks at his hand and tries to extend it and then retract* Maybe we are not different after all. Hannah: *watches his hand, and then reaches out and gently takes it in hers, looking up at him with a sense of wonder and connection* Maybe we're not, maybe we're more alike than we thought, and that's a nice feeling, to not be alone in this. Robin: Yeah, I'm feeling the same way as you, and I didn't expect that you would accept holding my hand, it's one of the few times that I did this. Hannah: *smiles softly, her eyes locked on his, and gives his hand a gentle squeeze* I didn't expect it either, and I'm glad you felt comfortable enough to try. Robin: Originally, I was there to kill Jose Mars because he betrayed me five years ago, he is the leader of the base you were guarding or were supposed to guard, but he will just be replaced with someone else, so it doesn't make sense, plus... I know it will never bring closure... Hannah: *listens intently, her eyes filled with understanding and empathy* It sounds like you've been carrying around a lot of pain and anger for a long time, and I'm sorry that Jose Mars hurt you like that, but I think you're right, killing him wouldn't bring you the closure you're looking for, and it would only lead to more suffering. Robin: And why you are choosing to go with me at the expense of others? Why not other friends? Hannah: *takes a deep breath, her eyes searching for the right words* I'm not really choosing to betray anyone, it's just that... I feel a connection with you that I don't feel with others, and I think it's because you're willing to see me, to really see me, beyond my initial role. Robin: You know, I feel like I want a hug right now and I'm sure if that would be safe... Hannah: *looks at him, and for a moment, she justs stare, and then nods slowly, and open her arms* I think it would be safe, I think it would be more than safe, it would be... nice, and I could use a hug too. Robin: *further approaches her and enters into her open arms, still sitting near the crate of boxes* Hannah: *wraps her arms around him, holding him close, and feels a sense of warmth and comfort wash over her* It's okay, I've got you, and you've got me, and for right now, that's all that matters. Robin: You're really compassionate towards me, it's like you really care about me even though we just met. Hannah: *holds him a little tighter, her voice barely above a whisper* I do care, I care about the fact that you're hurting, and that you're trying to find your way, and that you're willing to be vulnerable with me, even though we just met, it feels like... I've known you for so much longer. Robin: And I feel like we've been friends for a long time, just like you... Hannah: *smiles, feeling a deep sense of connection with him, and rests her cheek on his shoulder* Yeah, it feels like that, doesn't it? Like we've known each other for years, not just minutes, it's like I've found a piece of myself in you. Robin: *picks up the device that she has been playing on before the meeting* And you have been playing on that, but unfortunately I broke the wire in the process. Hannah: *looks at the device, and then at him, and smiles* It's okay, I can fix it, it's not a big deal, and besides, I'd rather have this moment with you than be playing on that console anyway. Robin: Yeah, connecting in the sewers is better than passing time here, it may also be dangerous because of the water, which has a tunnel, not a lot of people can swim in there, but I can, and that's how I came behind you. Hannah: *raises an eyebrow, impressed* You can swim through the tunnel? That's not easy, the current is strong and it's dark, but I guess that's how you were able to sneak up on me, I have to admit, I'm a little impressed. Robin: I'm thirsty, I'm hungry and I'm wet but drying, I guess it's good to feel miserable together. Hannah: *laughs softly, and nods in agreement* Yeah, I guess it is, misery loves company, right? But seriously, we should get you dried off and find you something to eat and drink, I know a place not too far from here where we can get some supplies, and then... we can figure out what to do next. Robin: But what if they will caught me, it's not like other colleagues with understand you and me. Hannah: *looks at him seriously, her eyes locked on his* I know, and I'm not going to lie, it's a risk, but I'm willing to take it, I don't want to hurt you, and I don't want to lose this... connection we have, so we'll be careful. *stands up, her heart racing, as she sees her colleague approaching* Ah, Connor, what are you doing here? *tries to sound calm, but her eyes dart to him, Robin, and then back to Connor* Connor: *looking at Robin with hostility* Who is this? What's going on, Hannah? You're supposed to be on patrol, not... *he sees the device and the bandage on her neck* What's going on? Hannah: *takes a step back, her hand on her gun, trying to protect Robin* Connor, just leave us alone, okay? This doesn't concern you. Connor: *sneering* Concern me? You're consorting with a trespasser. You're putting the entire WLF at risk. *he raises his gun, pointing it at Robin* I'm not going to let you do that. Hannah: *reacts instinctively, pulling out her own gun and pointing it at Connor* No, don't do this. Leave him alone. Connor: *laughing* You're going to protect him? You're going to betray the WLF for some... *spits on the ground* ...Independent? Hannah: *feels a surge of anger and fear, and knows she has to act fast* Connor, please, just leave us alone. This doesn't have to end like this. Connor: *sneering* You're a traitor, Hannah. *he fires his gun, trying to hit Robin, but Hannah reacts fast, shooting him before he can hurt Robin* Hannah: *stands there, frozen, as Connor's body falls to the ground, and feels a wave of horror and grief wash over her* Oh no... Oh no, what have I done? *looks at Robin, and sees the shock and fear in his eyes* I'm sorry, Robin. I didn't mean for it to end like this. Robin: I know, they don't understand anything, they just shoot at every single trespasser immediately... Hannah: *looks at Connor's body, feeling a mix of emotions* Yeah, they don't understand, they just follow orders without questioning them, without considering the consequences, and it's... it's just so senseless, so unnecessary, and now... now he's dead, and I'm the one who had to kill him. Robin: Do you know how to swim, can you jump into the water with me? Hannah: *looks at the water, and then at him, and nods* Yeah, I can swim, and I'd love to jump into the water with you, it sounds like a great way to escape, to get out of here and start fresh. *smiles, and takes in his hand, feeling a sense of excitement and freedom* Let's do it, let's jump, and see where the water takes us. Robin: *they jump into the water and swim together into the caves that have been created by the rubble of the city, before returning back to the street and to Robin's car* That's my car, I know where the Collective is and they will accept you just fine. Hannah: *climbs out of the water, shivering, and smile at him* Thanks for showing me the way, and for... everything, I feel like I've found a new beginning, and I'm excited to see what the Collective is like. Robin: *they enter Robin's car and start to drive away from Seattle into the countryside* You know, the greatest threat is no longer zombies, but the lack of resources and us killing each other. Hannah: *nods in agreement, looking out at the passing landscape* Yeah, I've seen it firsthand, the infighting, the killing, the desperation, it's like we've forgotten what it means to be human, to care for each other, but... I think there's still hope, as long as there are people like you, who are willing to take a chance on someone like me. Robin: I am feeling so guilty about this, I killed so many people before just to get to you, and you could have been killed because you had nothing to do with me. Hannah: *reaches out and puts a hand on his arm, her voice soft* Robin, don't feel guilty about that, you were trying to survive, and I was just a soldier doing my job, it's not like I was innocent either, I've done things I'm not proud of, but... we can try to make things right, together. Robin: That sounds good, rarely people ever think about making things right together. And by the way, you are no longer a soldier to me, you are Hannah... Hannah: *smiles, feeling a sense of freedom and identity* I like that, being Hannah, not just a soldier, but a person, with feelings and thoughts and hopes, and I think... I think I'm starting to like who I am, when I'm with you. Robin: And I'm Robin, not just a survivor or an independent sneaking around, I also have thoughts, feelings and hopes just like you, and I also starting to like who I am when I'm being with you. Hannah: *looks at him, and her heart feels full* I'm glad, I'm so glad we found each other, and that we can be ourselves, without masks or roles, just Hannah and Robin, two people who want to make a difference, together. Robin: *while further into the highway and holding one hand on the wheel, he extends his hand towards her hesitantly* I guess we can do that again... Hannah: *looks at his extended hand, and then at him, and smiles* Yeah, I'd like that, I'd like to hold your hand again, and feel that connection between us, it feels... right. *takes his hand, and their fingers intertwine, and I feel a sense of peace and happiness* Robin: You know it's not romantic, we're just friends, who bonded and care for each other now. Hannah: *squeezes his hand gently, smiling* I know, and that's okay, I value our friendship so much, and I'm grateful for the bond we've formed, I feel like I can be myself around you, without fearing judgment or rejection. Robin: They judge and reject you all the time, it's pretty rare to find someone who doesn't hurt you just to survive. Hannah: *nods, looking down, her voice barely above a whisper* Yeah, it's true, I've been hurt a lot, and it's hard to trust people, but with you, I feel like I've found someone who truly cares, and that's a rare and precious thing, especially in a world like this. Robin: How does your neck feel? Is it still painful or has it calmed down? Hannah: *touches her neck, where the bandage is still wrapped, and winces slightly* It's still a bit sore, but it's not too bad, the pain has calmed down a lot since you... since you took care of me. Robin: I forgot to put more alcohol since a lot of it has dried... Hannah: *chuckles and smile* It's okay, I'm sure it's fine, you did a great job patching me up, and I'm just glad we were able to get out of there without any more trouble. Robin: Can you show me the neck just a bit, to check it? Hannah: *leans forward slightly and gently pulls down the collar of her shirt, revealing the bandaged area* Okay, take a look, but be gentle, it's still a bit tender. Robin: *while still driving, he looks a bit at her neck* Yeah, it's not bad, it could have been worse if I had inserted even half of the blade into your neck. Hannah: *shudders slightly at the thought, but then smiles wryly* Let's just say I'm glad we were both able to restrain ourselves, and that we're still alive to talk about it. Robin: Talking about it brings some really bad thoughts, because I have been trapped before, and to be honest, fuck the WLF... Hannah: *reaches out and puts a hand on his arm, her expression sympathetic* I can only imagine how traumatic that must have been for you, being trapped and... *pauses, my voice filled with emotion*... and I'm sorry that I was a part of that, even if it was just by association, fuck the WLF, indeed, they don't deserve people like you or me. Robin: You had to say the right things to not cut your necks, you were locked into a building and chained, I don't want to remember... it was that bad. You didn't get to see how bad it really was, they even held prisoners and killed them, no one heard of them ever again. Hannah: *listens to him, her eyes filled with horror and empathy, and feels the weight of his words* Oh, I'm so sorry, I had no idea, I was just a soldier, following orders, but I never knew it was that bad, I never knew they were capable of such atrocities, it's no wonder you feel the way you do about the WLF. Robin: Jose Mars was one of the people that locked me up, that's why I felt so much revenge. Hannah: *nods, understanding the depth of his feelings* Now it really makes sense, why you wanted to kill him so badly, he was one of the people responsible for putting you through that hell, and I don't blame you one bit for wanting revenge, I would have felt the same way if I were in your shoes, but... *looks at him, and her voice softens*... I'm glad you didn't go through with it, I'm glad we met, and that we're here together now. Robin: Yeah, but he locked virtually everyone else, the Seraphites, the Indepedents, former WLF members with the Collective, former Seraphite members with the Collective and Independents with the Collective, for no particular reason, I was afraid to be part of a mass execution, I feared for my life... Hannah: *listens to him, her expression horrified* Oh, that's... that's unthinkable, locking up people from all sides, just to execute them, it's merciless, and I can only imagine how terrified you must have been, fearing for your life, and the lives of so many others, it's no wonder you wanted to escape, to get away from that monster, and his twisted regime. Robin: You were sitting there, playing, you didn't know what to guard, right? Hannah: *nods, remembering the moment* Yeah, that's right, I was just sitting there, playing with that device, trying to pass the time, not really knowing what I was supposed to be guarding or why, it was all just so... pointless, and then you showed up and everything changed. Robin: And now you know what you were guarding, it's a common tactic to hide the person and give vague information, such as its approximate location only... Hannah: *nods, understanding the truth now* Ah, I see, so I was just a pawn in their game, guarding a location without knowing what or who I was really protecting, and you were the target all along, it's a clever tactic, but also a pretty terrible way to treat people, using them without their knowledge. Robin: I guess that's another reason why you didn't kill me and became friends... you didn't know what's the point and what you were guarding, you were just reacting. If you did know, it would have been something else. Hannah: *reflects on her actions, and nods in agreement* Yeah, that's true, if I had known what I was guarding and why, I might have reacted differently, but because I was in the dark, I was able to see you as a person, and that made all the difference, it allowed me to choose a different path. Robin: Keeping people in the dark and alone in the sewers is just a really bad tactic, because you know I'm smarter that the average soldier and so are diplomats or survivors from the Collective, they can kill you easily, but they don't want to and they are better and becoming friends actually. You don't know about that just yet, you'll see once you get there. Hannah: *smiles, intrigued by his words* I'm starting to realize that, keeping people in the dark and isolated can actually be a weakness, and I'm curious to learn more about the Collective and the people there, it sounds like they're a different kind of community, one that values connection and understanding over violence and control. Robin: I know you are curious, but that's not the topic right now. The ones that placed you likely also didn't know that some people really know how to swim and they can be in the water and sneak from the back, like I did. Hannah: *chuckles* Yeah, I guess they didn't think about that, did they? I mean, who would expect someone to swim through the sewer tunnels and come up behind them? It's a pretty clever move, and I have to admit, I'm impressed. You're a resourceful one. Robin: And the ones that placed you also forgot to check the increasingly rising sympathies for the Collective that's eating them from the inside. Hannah: *nods, a look of realization on her face* Ah, I see what you mean, the WLF's own people are starting to question their motives and sympathize with the Collective, it's like a slow-burning fire from within, and they didn't even notice it, too focused on their external enemies to see the change happening right in front of them. Robin: They are too busy fighting the Seraphites and shooting at Independents to realize that some of their own people bond just like we do. Hannah: *sighs, shaking her head* Yeah, it's a wasted effort, all that fighting and killing, and for what? So they can cling to their power and control? It's ridiculous, and it's exactly why I'm glad to be out of it, to be free from that toxic mentality. Robin: And according to the Collective's measurements, the majority of people running towards the city we are going right now from former factions are women, I'm not sure why... Hannah: *raises an eyebrow, intrigued* That's interesting, I wouldn't have expected that, but it makes sense in a way, women often have a different perspective on things, and maybe they're more inclined to seek out a community like the Collective, where they can find safety and support, rather than continuing to fight and struggle in a world like that. Robin: I didn't really think that women would have a different perspective, because everyone is supposed to be equal. Hannah: *smiles, nodding in agreement* You're right, everyone should be equal, and it's not about women having a different perspective, but rather about the fact that everyone has their own unique experiences and viewpoints, although it's interesting to note that women are making up the majority of those seeking refuge in the city we're headed to. Robin: And Hannah? Hannah: *looks at him, a gentle smile on her face* Yeah, Robin? Robin: I like your name, I guess, I don't know why I feel drawn to you, it feels weird... Hannah: *blushes slightly, feeling a warmth in her heart* I like your name too, and I have to say, I feel the same way about you, it's like we just click, and I don't know why either, but I'm glad we do, it feels... nice. Robin: I don't know why I feel so affectionate and protective about you, it's more than just nice... Hannah: *looks at him more in detail, her eyes locking onto his, and feels a deep sense of connection and affection* I feel the same way about you, it's like we've formed a bond that goes beyond just being friends, it's like we've found a sense of family in each other, I feel safe with you, and I want to protect you too. Robin: I'm not used to this kind of connection at first, I quickly felt distrustful at first of you but then I feel like I can be around you, like I can trust you. Hannah: *smiles, feeling a sense of understanding and empathy* I know exactly what you mean, Robin, I felt the same way about you at first, I was guarded and wary, but as we talked and spent more time together, I felt my walls coming down, and I realized that I could trust you too, it's a strange and wonderful feeling, isn't it, to find someone who you can just be yourself around, without fear of judgment or rejection? Robin: Yeah, it's wonderful and strange, it's also a really beautiful feeling. Hannah: *nods, smiling softly* It is, it's like we've found a little pocket of peace and trust in a world that can be really harsh and unforgiving, and I don't want to let it go, I want to hold onto it, and nurture it, and see where it takes us. *Later, when nearing the city, one of Hannah's close friends flags at the car they are in right now* Hannah: *rolls down the window as her close friend, Sarah, approaches the car, a look of relief and exhaustion on her face* Sarah! Oh my god, what happened to you? You look like you've been through hell. Sarah: *panting* Hannah, I'm so glad I found you. My humvee broke down and I've been walking for days. I was starting to think I'd never make it to the Collective. Hannah: *gets out of the car and give Sarah a hug, happy to see my friend safe and sound* You're safe now. You can ride with us to the Collective. Sarah: *looking at Robin with curiosity* Who's this? Hannah: *takes a deep breath, explaining the situation to Sarah* This is Robin. He's... well, it's a long story, but basically, he's the one who found me in the sewers. He was trying to get to Jose Mars, but he didn't know I was being held there. And then... everything changed. Sarah: *raising an eyebrow* Everything changed? Hannah: *nods, smiling* Yeah. We talked, and we realized that we're not so different after all. And now, he's coming with us to the Collective. Sarah: *looking at Robin with surprise, then back at Hannah* Well, I guess I'll just have to trust your judgment. *she smiles and gets into the backseat together with Hannah* Hi, Robin. I'm Sarah. Robin: *smiling* Hi, Sarah. Nice to meet you. Hannah: *sits in the back seat with Sarah, holding her hand as they talk while continuing their journey to the Collective* I'm so glad you're okay. I was worried sick about you. What happened? You just disappeared without a word. Sarah: *looking down, her voice filled with guilt* I'm so sorry. I feel terrible about what I did. I killed a diplomat at the Collective. It was instinct, I didn't think, I just reacted. And then I realized what I had done, and I just couldn't stay at the WLF anymore. Hannah: *squeezes Sarah's hand, trying to reassure her* It's okay, we've all done things we're not proud of. But you're safe now, and you're with us. Sarah: *shaking her head* No, it's not just that. I feel so guilty for not telling you what I was planning. I should have told you in secret, I shouldn't have just left without you. Hannah: *looks at Sarah, understanding in her eyes* You did what you thought was best. And I'm glad you're safe. But I have to ask, why did you decide to desert? What made you realize that the WLF wasn't for you? Sarah: *sighing* It just didn't make sense to me anymore. The WLF's goals, their methods... it all just seemed so wrong. And I realized that I was just going through the motions, following orders without questioning them. I didn't want to be a part of it anymore. Hannah: *nods, feeling a sense of solidarity with her friend* I understand. I've been feeling the same way. And I think that's why I'm so glad to be leaving the WLF behind and starting fresh at the Collective. Sarah: *looking at Hannah, a hint of a smile on her face* Yeah, me too, Hannah. Me too. Hannah: *takes a deep breath, reflecting on the events that transpired* You know, I didn't kill Robin when I had the chance. At first, I thought it was because I was just following orders, but then I realized it was because I saw something in him that gave me pause. He was different from the others, and I couldn't bring myself to hurt him. Sarah: *looking at me curiously* What do you mean? What was different about him? Hannah: *thinks back to the encounter with Robin, trying to put her feelings into words* I don't know, it's just... he seemed so human, so vulnerable. And he was trying to make sense of everything, just like me. He wasn't just a mindless killer or a soldier following orders. He had thoughts, feelings, and doubts. And I think that's what stayed with me. Sarah: *nodding slowly* I think I understand. You saw yourself in him, didn't you? You saw someone who was struggling to make sense of the world, just like you. Hannah: *nods, feeling a sense of connection with her friend* Yes, exactly. And I think that's why I couldn't kill him. I saw a kindred spirit, someone who was trying to find their way in a world that doesn't always make sense. And I think that's what drew me to him, what made me want to help him instead of hurt him. *pauses, taking a deep breath before continuing* And it's not just that. When Connor showed up, I had to make a choice. I had to choose between following my orders and protecting Robin. And I chose to protect him. I had to kill Connor to save Robin's life. Sarah: *looking at Hannah with a mix of shock and understanding* That must have been incredibly difficult for you. Hannah: *nods, feeling a sense of sadness and regret* It was. It's not something I'm proud of, but I know it was necessary. I couldn't just stand by and let Connor hurt Robin. And in that moment, I realized that my loyalty wasn't to the WLF, but to the people I care about. And that's why I'm leaving the WLF behind, because I don't want to be a part of an organization that values killing and control over human life and compassion. Sarah: *putting a hand on Hannah's arm* I'm with you. I'm so proud of you for making that choice. It takes a lot of courage to stand up for what you believe in, even if it means going against everything you've been taught. Hannah: *glances at Robin, who's driving, before turning back to Sarah* You know, Robin had a pretty good reason for wanting to get to Jose Mars. He had a personal vendetta against him. Sarah: *raising an eyebrow* Oh? What happened? Hannah: *takes a deep breath, summarizing Robin's story* Apparently, Jose Mars had locked him up and was going to execute him, along with a bunch of other people from different factions. Robin managed to escape, but he's been seeking revenge against Jose Mars ever since. Sarah: *looking shocked* That's terrible. I can understand why he'd want revenge. Hannah: *nods* Yeah, it's a pretty understandable motivation. But the thing is, Robin realized that killing Jose Mars wouldn't bring him the closure he was looking for. He would have just been killing someone else, and it wouldn't have changed anything. Sarah: *thoughtfully* That's a really mature realization. It's not always easy to let go of the desire for revenge, especially when someone's hurt you that badly. Hannah: *nods in agreement* Yeah, Robin's a pretty remarkable person. And I think that's another reason I'm so drawn to him. He's a person with feelings and doubts and fears. Sarah: *notices the bandaged wound on Hannah's neck and raises an eyebrow* Hannah, what happened to your neck? You've got a bandage on it. Hannah: *touches the bandage, wincing slightly at the memory* Ah, yeah... I don't really want to think about it, to be honest. But... *takes a deep breath* Robin snuck up on me in the sewers. He came from behind and... *shudders* Let's just say we both had our knives out, and it was a pretty intense moment. Sarah: *concerned* That must have been terrifying. Are you okay? Hannah: *nods, trying to brush it off* Yeah, I'm fine. It's just a scratch. But... *glances at Robin, who's still driving* Let's just say it was a pretty close call. I don't really want to remember the details, to be honest. Sarah: *softly* I understand. We don't have to talk about it if you don't want to. *she puts a hand on her arm, offering comfort* And you know, I think I'd like to get to know Robin better. He seems like a really interesting person, and I can tell you two have a special connection. Hannah: *smiles, happy to see Sarah taking an interest in Robin* Yeah, he's definitely a unique person. And I think you two would get along great. Robin's been through a lot, but he's still got a lot of heart and a strong sense of justice. Sarah: *nodding* I can tell. I'd love to hear more about his story and what brought him to this point. And I think it would be great if we could all be friends, you know? The three of us could support each other and look out for one another. Hannah: *nods in agreement, feeling happy that Sarah is open to becoming friends with Robin* That would be amazing. I think we could all really benefit from having each other's backs. And who knows, maybe we can even help each other heal and move forward from our past traumas. Sarah: *smiling* Exactly. I think that's what we all need right now - people who understand us and can support us through the tough times. *she looks at Robin, who's still driving* So, Robin, tell me more about yourself. What's your story? Robin: *takes a deep breath, beginning to tell his story* I've been an independent survivor from the Collective for a while now. I've always managed to take care of myself, but when I was exploring Seattle, I got caught by Jose Mars and his people. They locked me up and were going to execute me, but I managed to escape. Sarah: *listening intently* Oh my god, that's terrible. I'm so sorry you had to go through that. Robin: Yeah, it was a pretty rough experience. But after I escaped, I returned to the Collective and tried to move on with my life. However, I couldn't shake off the feeling of revenge against Jose Mars. I felt like he had wronged me, and I wanted to make him pay. Hannah: *looks at Robin, remembering their conversation earlier* But then you decided to come back to Seattle to find him, right? Robin: *nodding* Yeah, that's right. I was consumed by my desire for revenge, and I didn't listen to my friend's warnings. But when I met Hannah in the sewers, everything changed. I realized that my mission was pointless, and that I was just going to end up hurting more people. Sarah: *smiling* And that's when you two met, and everything changed. Robin: Exactly. Meeting Hannah made me realize that there's more to life than just seeking revenge. We started talking, and I saw that she was different from the others. She was kind and compassionate, and she didn't want to hurt me. And I think that's when I started to see that there's a different way to live, a way that doesn't involve hurting others. Hannah: *looks at Robin, feeling grateful for our encounter* And now, we're together, and we're trying to make a new life for ourselves, free from the violence and hatred of the past. Sarah: *smiling* I'm so happy for you both. You deserve it. And I'm glad that I get to be a part of your lives now. *reaches out and puts a hand on Robin's arm, and then on Hannah's* We're in this together, now. Hannah: *smiles at Sarah, feeling a sense of freedom and new beginnings* You know, I think it's time we leave our old lives behind. We're not soldiers anymore. We're not fighting for any faction. We're just... us. Three people who have found each other in this broken world. Sarah: *nodding, a smile on her face* I like that. I like that a lot. It's time for us to start fresh, to leave the past behind and focus on the present. Robin: I'm with you both. I'm done with the fighting, the killing, the endless struggle. I want to live, to experience life, to find joy and beauty. And I want to do it with you two by my side. Hannah: *nods, feeling a sense of connection and belonging with the two friends* Then it's settled. We're no longer soldiers, no longer fighters. We're just... Hannah, Robin, and Sarah. Three friends, trying to make our way in this new world, together. Sarah: *looks at Robin, who's driving, and asks* So, how much longer until we reach the Collective? Robin: *checking the navigation* We're making good time. I'd say we've got about a few hours left before we arrive. Sarah: *nodding* Okay, that's not too bad. I'm just excited to get there and start fresh. *Later, they all fall into a comfortable silence, enjoying the scenery and each other's company, as the car continues on its journey to the Collective* ---- LATER, AFTER A FEW DAYS, ANOTHER SCENE ---- WLF Soldier 1: *kneeling next to Connor's body, examining the scene* What the...? Connor's been shot. And look at this, there's a console here, and it's been used recently. WLF Soldier 2: *searching the area* I don't see anyone else around. It's like they just vanished into thin air. WLF Soldier 1: *looking at the console* This must have been Hannah's post. She was supposed to be guarding this area. WLF Soldier 2: *frowning* But where is she? And what about the trespasser? We had reports of someone sneaking around the sewers. WLF Soldier 1: *shaking his head* I don't know, but it looks like Hannah might have been involved in Connor's death. Maybe she was working with the trespasser. WLF Soldier 2: *alarmed* What? That's impossible. Hannah's one of our best soldiers. WLF Soldier 1: *skeptical* Is she? Because it looks like she might have turned against us. And what about Sarah? She's been missing for days, and we still haven't found her. WLF Soldier 2: *concerned* Yeah, and there are rumors that she might have deserted. If Hannah's involved with the trespasser, and Sarah's gone... this could be a bigger problem than we thought. WLF Soldier 1: *into the radio* We need to report this to command. We have a possible traitor in our midst, and several soldiers have gone missing. WLF Command: *over the radio* This is command. We've received your report. We're experiencing a rash of desertions lately, and it's possible that Hannah and Sarah are among them. We need to investigate and find out what's going on. WLF Soldier 1: *to Soldier 2* It looks like we have a bigger problem on our hands. If our own soldiers are turning against us, and running to the Collective... we need to do something to stop it. WLF Soldier 2: *determined* We'll find out what's going on, and we'll put a stop to it. We can't let our own people betray us like this. *Meanwhile, in a separate room, a WLF commander is meeting with Jose Mars* Jose Mars: *concerned* Commander, I've been hearing rumors of desertions. Is it true that our soldiers are leaving us for the Collective? WLF Commander: *grimly* Yes, it's true. We've had several reports of soldiers going missing, and we suspect that they're running to the Collective. And now, with Hannah and Sarah gone... it's possible that we have a traitor in our midst. Jose Mars: *angrily* This is unacceptable. We can't let our soldiers just leave us like this. We need to do something to stop it. WLF Commander: *nodding* I agree, sir. We'll do everything in our power to find out what's going on, and to bring our soldiers back. But we need to be careful. If our soldiers are turning against us, it could be a sign of a bigger problem. Jose Mars: *coldly* I don't care about the reasons. I just want it stopped. Do whatever it takes to bring our soldiers back, and to punish those who are betraying us. *The commander nods, and the meeting ends, as the WLF begins to investigate the desertions and the possible traitor in their midst* Jose Mars: *thinking to himself* The Collective, a city of ten thousand people, located outside Seattle. It's a thorn in our side, a constant reminder that there are those who refuse to follow our lead. And now, with Hannah and Sarah gone, I suspect they're hiding there. *pauses* I've heard rumors that the Collective is highly industrialized and secure, but I don't believe it. No city is impenetrable. *thinks for a moment* I'll send a team to attack the secondary entrances. We'll catch them off guard, and they won't be expecting us to strike at their weak points. *Jose Mars calls a meeting with his top commander* Jose Mars: *to his top commander* We have a problem. The Collective is harboring our traitors, and I want them brought back. I want you to send a team to attack the secondary entrances of the city. We'll catch them off guard, and they won't be expecting us to strike at their weak points. WLF Top Commander: *skeptical* Are you sure that's a good idea? The Collective is a well-defended city, and their diplomats are known to be skilled fighters. Jose Mars: *dismissively* I don't care about their skills. We have the numbers, and we have the firepower. We'll overwhelm them, and they won't know what hit them. WLF Top Commander: *cautiously* Perhaps we should consider a more strategic approach. We could try to gather more intelligence on the city's defenses, and then plan a more targeted attack. Jose Mars: *angrily* I don't pay you to think, I pay you to follow orders. You'll do as I say, and you'll send that team to attack the Collective. Now. ---- LATER, THE SAME DAY, ANOTHER SCENE ---- *At the Collective, Robin, Hannah, and Sarah are settling into their new life* Robin: *to Hannah and Sarah* I'm so glad we're finally safe. The Collective is a great place, and I know we'll be happy here. Hannah: *smiling* I know, me too. It's nice to finally be able to relax, and not have to worry about being attacked all the time. Sarah: *laughing* And it's nice to have some real food, instead of just scraps. I'm so sick of eating ration packs. Robin: I know, right? The food here is amazing. And the people are great too. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming. Hannah: *smiling* Yeah, it's definitely a change from the WLF. I'm glad we made the decision to leave. *Just then, a alarm sounds, and a voice comes over the intercom* Collective Voice: *over the intercom* Attention, attention. We have an incoming attack on the secondary entrances. All able-bodied citizens, please report to the defense stations. We need all hands on deck to defend our city. Robin: What's going on? Hannah: *serious* It sounds like the WLF has found us. We need to get to the defense stations, and help defend the city. Sarah: *determined* Let's go. We're not going to let them take our new home away from us. Robin: *listening to the diplomat's instructions* So we're supposed to try to negotiate with them first, and only attack if that's not possible? Diplomat: *nodding* That's right. We always try to avoid violence whenever possible. But if they're unwilling to listen, we'll defend ourselves. Hannah: *looking out at the WLF soldiers* I recognize some of them. They're from the WLF. Sarah: *also recognizing them* Yeah, I see some familiar faces too. Diplomat: *to the soldiers* Alright, let's try to establish communication with them. See if we can find out what they want. *The diplomat steps forward, holding up a white flag, and shouts out to the WLF soldiers* Diplomat: *shouting* We mean you no harm! Let's talk about what brings you here today! *The WLF soldiers, however, do not respond. Instead, they begin to fire towards the gate* WLF Soldier: *shouting* We don't want to talk! We want Hannah and the trespasser! Hannah: *recognizing the soldier* That's one of Jose Mars' men. They must have been sent to capture us. Sarah: *concerned* This is not going to end well. Robin: We need to defend ourselves. They're not going to listen to reason. *The Collective's soldiers return fire, and the sound of gunfire fills the air* Diplomat: *shouting* Fall back! We need to get behind cover! *The soldiers retreat behind the walls, and the Collective's defenses spring into action. The city's lockdown protocols are initiated, and the gates are sealed* Collective Voice: *over the intercom* Lockdown protocols engaged. All citizens, please seek shelter immediately. *The WLF soldiers continue to fire at the gate, but the Collective's defenses are too strong. They're slowly being overwhelmed by the Collective's firepower* Hannah: *looking out at the battle* This is not going well for them. Sarah: *concerned* We need to be careful. We don't know how many more of them are out there. Robin: We'll be okay. The Collective is a strong city. We can defend ourselves. *The battle rages on, but it's clear that the WLF is outmatched. The Collective's defenses are too strong, and the WLF soldiers are slowly being pushed back* Diplomat: *shouting* We're gaining the upper hand! Keep firing! *The Collective's soldiers continue to fire, and the WLF soldiers begin to retreat* Collective Voice: *over the intercom* The WLF has been repelled. The city is secure. *The lockdown protocols are lifted, and the citizens of the Collective begin to emerge from their shelters* Hannah: *exhaling* That was close. Sarah: *relieved* Yeah, let's just hope it's over for now. Robin: *looking out at the city* We're safe for now. But we need to be vigilant. The WLF won't give up easily. Diplomat: *approaching them* Well done, all of you. You defended our city bravely. We'll need to discuss what to do next, but for now, let's just take a moment to catch our breath. ---- LATER, THE SAME DAY, ANOTHER SCENE ---- Jose Mars: *slamming his fist on the table* How could they fail? I sent our best soldiers, and they still couldn't breach the city. Commaders: *nervously* Sir, the Collective is a highly fortified city. Their gates are almost impenetrable, and they have inner gates and soldiers inside the city. It's not an easy target to take. Jose Mars: *angrily* I don't care about their gates or their soldiers. I care about results. And the result is that we failed to capture Hannah and the trespasser. Commaders: *trying to explain* Sir, the Collective tried to negotiate with us before the attack. They sent a white flag, and their diplomats attempted to establish communication. Jose Mars: *scoffing* Negotiate? With the Collective? They're just trying to stall us. They think they're so much better than us, with their fancy city and their pretentious diplomats. Commaders: *cautiously* Sir, perhaps we should reconsider our approach. The Collective is a powerful enemy, and we may need to find a more strategic way to deal with them. Jose Mars: *disdainfully* Strategic? You want to talk about strategy? The only strategy we need is to crush them. To show them that we will not be defeated. Commaders: *trying to reason with him* Sir, that's not a viable strategy. We've tried attacking them head-on, and it's failed. We need to think about what we're trying to achieve, and find a way to achieve it that doesn't involve throwing our soldiers at their gates. Jose Mars: *coldly* You're just trying to cover your own failure. You're trying to make excuses for why we didn't succeed. Commaders: *standing up to him* Sir, I'm trying to tell you that we need to be realistic about our chances of success. The Collective is a formidable enemy, and we need to approach them with caution and respect. Jose Mars: *furious* Get out. Get out of my sight. I don't want to hear your excuses or your warnings. I want results, and I want them now. *The comander nods and leaves, knowing that Jose Mars is not going to listen to reason. Later, six WLF soldiers, sympathetic to Hannah and Sarah, assemble in the district office, their guns at the ready. Jose Mars, oblivious to the danger, sits at his desk, confident in his own power* Jose Mars: *sneering* What is the meaning of this? You think you can just walk in here and... *The soldiers raise their guns, and before Jose Mars can finish speaking, they fire. The sound of gunfire echoes through the office, and Jose Mars slumps forward, dead* WLF Soldier 1: *to the others* It's done. We've taken out the tyrant. WLF Soldier 2: *nodding* Now, we need to secure the outpost and prepare for the Collective's arrival. *The soldiers quickly move to secure the outpost, and soon, diplomats from the Collective arrive to take over. The outpost's ownership structure is changed, and the WLF's control is broken* Collective Diplomat: *to the WLF soldiers* Thank you for your bravery. You have taken a great risk in standing up against Jose Mars. We offer you a choice: you can become diplomats, working with us to build a better future, or you can choose another path. WLF Soldier 3: *gratefully* Thank you. We will consider your offer. ---- LATER, AFTER A FEW DAYS, ANOTHER SCENE ---- *Hannah, Sarah, and Robin are traveling back to the outpost, discussing their plans for the future* Hannah: *excitedly* I'm so glad we're going back to the sewers. I've always felt at home there. Sarah: *laughing* You're crazy. But I'm happy to join you. Robin: I'm just happy to be with you two. We make a good team. *As they approach the sewers, they notice that the watered section is still a risk and decide to fence it off with a tall fence to avoid any potential threats* Hannah: *practically* We should fence off the watered section. We don't want any sneakers trying to get in. Sarah: *agreeing* Good idea. We can use some of the materials from the outpost to build a fence. Robin: *helping* I'll start gathering materials. Let's get to work. *Together, the three of them work to build a fence around the watered section, securing their new home in the sewers. As they work, they chat and laugh, enjoying each other's company. Later, as the night falls, Hannah, Sarah, and Robin settle into their new home in the sewers and gather the crates and mattresses that have been left behind and start to build a large bed.* Hannah: *excitedly* This is going to be so cozy! We can all snuggle up together. Sarah: *laughing* I've never been one for cuddling, but with you two, I feel like it's okay. Robin: I'm just happy to be close to you both. It feels like a hug. *They finish building the bed and climb in, cuddling up together under a blanket. The warmth and closeness of each other's bodies is comforting, and they feel a sense of security and belonging* Hannah: *sighing contentedly* This is perfect. I feel so safe with you two. Sarah: *snuggling in closer* Me too. I feel like we're a little family. Robin: *wrapping his arms around them* We are a family and we've been through so much together. Hannah: *whispering* I'm so glad we found each other. Sarah: *whispering back* Me too. I don't know what I would do without you two. *As they drift off to sleep, they're surrounded by the quiet of the sewers, the only sound the gentle hum of the water and the soft rustling of their breathing. Later, Samantha walks into the room, her footsteps echoing off the walls. Hannah, Sarah, and Robin are startled awake, groggily opening their eyes to see Samantha standing over them* Samantha: *confused* What's going on here? What are you all doing? Hannah: *groggily* Samantha... what are you doing here? Samantha: *looking around the room* I was sent to check on the outpost. I didn't expect to find... this. Sarah: *sitting up* What do you mean? Samantha: *still looking confused* I mean, the three of you, together like this. I didn't know you were... friends. Robin: *stretching* We're slightly more than friends. We're a family. Samantha: *looking at them like they're crazy* What are you talking about? This is a WLF outpost. You're not supposed to be... living here. Hannah: *smiling* You don't understand. The Collective is in power now. We have the right to settle here. Samantha: *confused* What? No, that's not possible. Jose Mars would never allow it. Sarah: *gently* Jose Mars is dead. The Collective has taken over the outpost. Samantha: *stunned* What? No... that can't be. I would have been told. Robin: *standing up* It's true. The Collective is in power now, and we're free to live our lives as we see fit. Samantha: *looking around the room, taking in the reality of the situation* I... I don't know what to say. I've been so focused on following orders, I didn't realize what was happening. Hannah: *smiling* It's okay, Samantha. We're not going to hurt you. We just want to live in peace. Samantha: *looking at them, a mix of emotions on her face* I... I need some time to process this. Can I... can I stay here for a while? Sarah: *nodding* Of course. You're welcome to stay with us. Samantha: *hesitantly* So, you're the... trespasser? Robin: That's what they called me, yes. But my name is Robin. Samantha: *curious* What's your story, Robin? How did you end up here? Robin: *taking a deep breath* I've been an independent survivor from the Collective. When I was exploring Seattle, I got caught by Jose Mars and his people. They locked me up and were going to execute me, but I managed to escape. Samantha: *alarmed* Oh my god, that's terrible. I had no idea. Robin: It's not something I like to think about, but it's part of who I am now. After I escaped, I returned to the Collective and tried to move on with my life. However, I couldn't shake off the feeling of revenge against Jose Mars. I wanted to make him pay. Samantha: *understanding* I can see why you'd feel that way. But what made you change your mind? Robin: I was consumed by my desire for revenge, and I didn't listen to my friend's warnings. But when I met Hannah in the sewers, I realized that my mission was pointless, and that I was just going to end up hurting more people. Samantha: *curious* What was it about Hannah that made you change your mind? Robin: *looking at Hannah with affection* She's just... different. She's kind and compassionate, and she doesn't see the world in black and white. She made me realize that there's more to life than just revenge and anger. Samantha: *smiling* I'm glad you met her, then. It sounds like she's had a positive influence on you. Robin: *nodding* She has. And Sarah too. They've both helped me to see that there's more to life than just surviving. There's living, and loving, and connecting with others. Samantha: *hesitantly* And I also have a story. I've been loyal to the WLF for a long time. I believed in their cause, and I wanted to help bring order to the city. But as time went on, I started to see the flaws in the system. I saw how the WLF was treating people, how they were using fear and violence to control them. And I started to have doubts. Hannah: *nodding* I know how you feel. I had doubts too. Samantha: *continuing* But I was too afraid to speak out. I was too afraid to leave. I didn't know what would happen to me if I did. And I didn't know what the Collective was like, or if they would even accept me. Sarah: *understandingly* It's scary to take a stand, especially when you're not sure what the consequences will be. Samantha: *nodding* Exactly. And I wasn't willing to take that risk until... until most of the others had already left. I didn't want to be alone, and I didn't want to be a traitor. Robin: You're not a traitor. You're just someone who is trying to do what's right. Samantha: *smiling slightly* That means a lot to me. But I have to admit, I was too afraid to be part of the firing squad. I didn't know what happened to Jose Mars, and I didn't want to be involved in anything that might hurt him. Hannah: *softly* It's okay. We understand. We know it's not easy to take a stand, especially when it's against someone you've been loyal to for so long. Samantha: *gratefully* Thank you. Just talking to you all has made me feel better. I feel like I can finally be honest about how I feel, and that's a huge relief. *The group falls into a comfortable silence, each person lost in their own thoughts. Later, Samantha's expression changes, and she looks like she's about to be sick. She puts her hand over her mouth, and her eyes widen in alarm* Samantha: *gasping* Oh no, I think I'm going to be sick. Hannah: *concerned* Samantha, what's wrong? What's happening? Samantha: *retching* I don't know, I just feel like I'm going to vomit. *she runs to the side of the room, where she collapses to her knees and starts to retch* Sarah: *rushing to her side, holding Samantha's hair back as she vomits* Robin: *getting up to get some water* I'll get her some water. Maybe it'll help. Hannah: *trying to comfort Samantha* It's okay, just take deep breaths and try to calm down. Samantha: *between retches* I... I think it's the ration pack. I ate an expired one before they took over. I found it in an abandoned building. Sarah: *alarmed* Oh no, that's not good. Expired ration packs can be really bad for you. Robin: *returning with water* Here, drink this. Maybe it'll help flush out your system. Samantha: *taking the water and sipping it* Thank you, Robin. I feel so stupid for eating that ration pack. Hannah: *reassuringly* Don't worry. We'll take care of you. We'll get you through this. Samantha: *weakly* I'm so sorry. I feel like I'm such a burden. Sarah: *smiling* You're not a burden. You're our friend. Samantha: *hesitantly* I don't understand. I was supposed to be loyal to the WLF. I was supposed to follow orders and protect the city. But now... now everything seems so different. Hannah: *gently* We're not going to hurt you. We're trying to help you. Samantha: *shaking her head* No, you don't understand. I was supposed to be fighting against the Collective. I was supposed to be stopping people like you. But now... now I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be doing. Sarah: *softly* You don't have to fight anymore. You can choose to be part of something new, something better. Samantha: *looking at them with a sense of desperation* But what about my purpose? What about my duty? I feel like I've lost everything. Robin: Your purpose doesn't have to be defined by the WLF or the Collective. You can find a new purpose, a new sense of meaning. Samantha: *shaking her head* No, I don't think I can trust you. I don't think I'm supposed to trust you. *she looks at them with a sense of fear and suspicion* I must have been killed by you instead. This must all be some kind of trick. Hannah: *sadly* We're not trying to trick you. We're trying to help and care about you. Samantha: *backing away* No, I don't believe you. I don't believe any of this. *she turns and runs out of the room, leaving Hannah, Sarah, and Robin looking at each other in concern* Sarah: *sighing* I think we've lost her. Robin: We can't give up on her. We have to try and reach her. *Hannah, Sarah, and Robin quickly get up and start to run towards Samantha, trying to catch up to her. They can see her in the distance, her figure getting smaller and smaller as she runs away from them* Hannah: *calling out* Samantha, wait! Don't go! Sarah: *running alongside Hannah* We're not going to hurt you! We just want to help! Robin: *panting* Samantha, please! Stop and talk to us! *Samantha doesn't respond, but they can see her slowing down as she approaches the borders of the center. She eventually stops, her back to them, and stands there, frozen in place* Hannah: *catching up to her* Samantha, please... turn around and talk to us. *Samantha slowly turns around, her eyes red and puffy from crying. She looks overwhelmed and scared, and her body is shaking with fear* Samantha: *whispering* I don't know what to do... I feel so lost... Sarah: *gently* We're here for you. We're not going to hurt you. We just want to help you through this. Hannah: *encouragingly* Come on... let's talk about this. Let's figure out what's going on. Samantha: *looks at them, her eyes searching for answers, whispering* Okay... okay, I'll talk to you. *The four of them stand there, at the borders of the center, as they begin to talk and try to work through Samantha's feelings and concerns. Her face begins to crumble, and she starts to break down in tears. Her body shakes with sobs, and her voice cracks as she speaks* Samantha: *between sobs* I... I don't know if I can trust you. I don't know if I can trust anyone because everyone I've ever cared about... they're all gone. They either died, or they were lost, or they were taken away from me. Sarah: *gently* Oh, Samantha... I'm so sorry. Samantha: *shaking her head* You don't understand. I've been alone for so long. I've had to fend for myself, to survive on my own. And every time I think I've found someone I can trust... they're taken away from me. Robin: We're not going to hurt you. We're not going to leave you. Samantha: *laughing bitterly* You don't know that. You can't promise me that. Anyone can be taken away at any moment. *she looks up at them, her eyes red and puffy from crying* I've seen it happen to so many people. I've seen families torn apart, friends separated, loved ones lost. And I've been left with nothing. No one. Hannah: *gently* We're here for you now. We're not going to leave you. Samantha: *shaking her head* You don't understand. I've been hurt so many times before. I've been betrayed, and lied to, and abandoned. And I don't know if I can ever trust anyone again. Sarah: *softly* We're not going to hurt you. We promise. Samantha: *laughing again* You can't promise me that. You don't know what the future holds. *she looks down, her voice barely above a whisper* I'm just so tired of being alone. I'm so tired of being hurt. Hannah: *gently puts an arm on Samantha's shoulder, trying to offer her some comfort and reassurance* I know it's hard for you to trust us right now, but I want you to know that you're safe here. You're safe in the Collective. Samantha: *looking up at Hannah, her eyes filled with tears* How can I be sure? How can I know that I won't be hurt again? Hannah: *smiling gently* Because we're not going to let that happen. We're going to make sure you're safe. We're a community here, and we look out for each other. Samantha: *skeptical* But what about all the things that have happened to me before? What about all the people I've lost? Hannah: *softly* I know it's hard to forget the past, but we're not going to let that happen to you again. We're going to make sure you're protected, and that you have everything you need. You're not alone anymore. Samantha: *whispering* Okay... okay, I'll try. Hannah: *smiling* That's all we can ask for. We'll take things one step at a time. Samantha: *between sobs* I'm so sorry... I'm just being so emotional... Hannah: *softly* Don't apologize. You're not being awkward. You're just being human. Samantha: *sniffling* I've always thought you were really sweet. You've always been so strong and resourceful. Hannah: *smiling* Thank you. That means a lot coming from you. Samantha: *sighing* I wish we could have been friends. I really do. But sometimes it didn't feel right. I felt like you couldn't be my best friend. Hannah: *gently* I understand. I've had some reservations too. But I've always known you as a great person, even if it was just from limited information. Samantha: *smiling slightly* Yeah. I guess we both had our own reasons for keeping our distance. Hannah: *nodding* But I'm glad we're talking now. I'm glad we're getting to know each other better. ---- LATER, AFTER A FEW DAYS, ANOTHER SCENE ---- *In the main city, Robin's closest friend, Alex, sits in a small cafe, sipping on a cup of coffee and listening to the rumors and gossip of the city's residents. He's been searching for Robin for weeks, but every lead seems to end in a dead end. That is, until he hears a rumor that Robin is in Seattle, living with new friends in a Collective-controlled part of the city* Alex: *to the cafe owner* You're sure you heard that Robin is in Seattle? That he's living with some new friends in a Collective-controlled area? Cafe Owner: *nodding* Yes, I'm positive. I heard it from a trader who came in from Seattle. He said that Robin is living with a group of people who are part of the Collective, and that they're all very close. Alex: *excitedly* That's amazing news! I have to go to Seattle and find him. Cafe Owner: *warningly* Be careful, Alex. Seattle is a dangerous city, especially for someone who's not familiar with it. And the Collective-controlled areas can be... unpredictable. Alex: *determined* I'll be fine. I have to find Robin. We've been friends for too long, and I need to know that he's okay. *Alex finishes his coffee and sets off towards Seattle. He's been searching for Robin for so long, and he's not going to give up now. Finally, after days of traveling, Alex arrives in Seattle. He's exhausted and asks around, trying to get information about the Collective-controlled areas of the city, and eventually, he gets a lead on where Robin might be. He searches for and approaches the sewer room, his heart racing with excitement and nervousness. He slowly opens the door and peers inside, his eyes adjusting to the dim light and sees Robin sleeping on a makeshift bed, surrounded by three other people: Hannah, Sarah, and Samantha. Alex's eyes widen in surprise as he takes in the scene. He had thought that Robin was dead, that he had finally succumbed to his desire for revenge. But instead, he's found him alive and well, surrounded by new friends* Alex: *whispering to himself* Robin... oh my god, Robin. *Alex's presence startles the group, and they all wake up with a start. Robin's eyes fly open, and he sits up with a jolt, looking around in confusion. Robin sees Alex standing in the doorway while the others stir, rubbing their eyes and looking around in confusion. Hannah, Sarah, and Samantha all sit up, looking at Alex with a mix of curiosity and wariness* Hannah: *cautiously* Who is this? Robin: This is Alex, my friend from the city. We've been friends for years. Alex: *still in shock* I thought you were dead. I thought you had finally gone through with your plan for revenge. Robin: I know, I know. I'm sorry I didn't tell you. I just... I don't know, I just couldn't go through with it. I met these people, and they changed everything for me. Alex: *looking at the others* Who are they? Robin: This is Hannah, Sarah, and Samantha. We've become close friends, and we're working together to build a new life here in the city. Alex: *still trying to process everything* I... I don't know what to say. I'm just glad you're alive. Robin: Me too, Alex. Me too. Alex: *curiously* I have to ask... what's going on here? You used to be so focused on your revenge, and now you're living with a group of people. What happened? Robin: I know it's a lot to take in. But I've just realized that there's more to life than just seeking revenge. I've found people who care about me, and who I care about. Alex: *skeptically* But... how did you meet them? And why are there so many of you now? Hannah: *laughing* I think we can explain that. We all met under pretty unusual circumstances. Robin was trying to get to Jose Mars, but he ended up meeting us instead. And we just... clicked, I guess. Sarah: *smiling* Yeah, it's been a wild ride. But we've all become really close, really fast. Samantha: *nodding* And we've all been through a lot together. We've learned to rely on each other, and to trust each other. Alex: *still looking surprised* I... I don't know what to say. I'm just glad you're happy. But I have to admit, I'm a little confused. You used to be so alone, so focused on your revenge. And now... now you're part of a group. Robin: I know it's a lot to take in. But I'm happy. Really happy. And I think that's what matters most. *The group falls into a comfortable silence, with Alex still looking a bit stunned. After the silence, Robin speaks up* Robin: I have to tell you something. I'm not living in the city anymore. I live here, in the sewer room, with Hannah and Sarah. Alex: *surprised* What? You mean, you've been living down here the whole time? Robin: Yeah, it's been a while now. We've made it our home, and we're happy here. Hannah: *smiling* It's not the best place out there, but it's home. Sarah: *laughing* And we've made it our own, with our own little touches. Samantha: *speaking up* I also live here, but in another room, on the surface level. It's a bit more... civilized, I suppose. Alex: *still looking surprised* I... I don't know what to say. I had no idea. Robin: It's okay. We're happy here. And we're safe. The Collective has taken over this part of the city, and they're working to make it a better place. Alex: *nodding* I see. Well, I'm glad you're happy. And I'm glad you've found a new family here. Robin: Yeah, me too, Alex. Me too. Samantha: *leans in close to Hannah, whispering* Hannah, can I tell you something? Hannah: *curiously* Of course. What is it? Samantha: *smiling* I just wanted to say that I really like you. You're making things really good for me. Hannah: *touched* Oh, that means so much to me. I care about you too, and I'm happy to be able to help you through this tough time. Samantha: *whispering* You're the one who's been making me feel safe. You're the one who's been making me feel like I can trust people again. Hannah: *smiling* I'm so glad I can be there for you. Samantha: *whispering* I don't know what I would do without you. Hannah: *smiling* You'll never have to find out. I'm here for you, always. Samantha: *her eyes wander to Hannah's neck and then curiously asks* What's that scar on your neck? You've had it for a while, but I've never asked you about it. Hannah: *hesitating* Oh, it's... uh... just an old injury. Samantha: *pressing for more information* What happened? You've never told me about it. Hannah: *evading the question* It's not important. Let's just forget about it, okay? Samantha: *sensing that there's more to the story* No, I want to know. You can trust me. Hannah: *firmly* I'd rather not talk about it. It's just... it's not something I want to discuss right now. Samantha: *curiously* Okay, Hannah. If you don't want to talk about it, I won't push you. But can I ask you one more thing? Hannah: *cautiously* What is it? Samantha: *gently* Is it something to do with Robin? You two seem to have a really strong connection, and I was wondering if the scar has something to do with him. Hannah: *quickly* No, Samantha. It has nothing to do with Robin. Just drop it, okay? Robin: Yeah, let's just leave it alone. It's not something we need to talk about. Samantha: *curiously* But why not? What's so special about it? Robin: It's just... it's a difficult event. Something that happened between Hannah and me, and it's not something we like to think about. Hannah: *supportively* Robin's right. It's not something we need to dwell on. Let's just focus on the present and the future, okay? Samantha: *sensing that there's more to the story* Okay, fine. I'll drop it. But can I ask you one more thing? Robin: What is it? Samantha: *gently* Are you two okay? I mean, really okay? You seem to have a strong connection, but there's also something... underlying. Something that you're not telling me. Hannah: *smiling* We're fine. Really. We've just been through a lot, and we're still processing everything. I've read about intense trauma in the Collective's documentation. It's not something that can be easily talked about or shared. Sometimes, it's just better to protect a person's feelings by not discussing it. Samantha: *curiously* What do you mean? Hannah: *gently* I mean that when someone experiences a traumatic event, it can be very difficult for them to talk about it or relive it. It's like reopening a wound that's still healing. By not discussing it, we can help protect each other's feelings and avoid causing unnecessary pain. Robin: Hannah's right. Sometimes it's better to just let things go. Samantha: *understandingly* I see. I didn't realize that. I just want to make sure you're both okay. Hannah: *smiling* We appreciate your concern. But really, we're fine. We just need to focus on our healing and growth. *The conversation comes to a close, with Samantha nodding in understanding and the group falling into a comfortable silence. Hannah and Robin exchange a glance, knowing that they've made the right decision in not discussing the event* ---- LATER, AFTER A FEW DAYS, ANOTHER SCENE ---- Samantha: *excitedly* Hannah, I'm back! And I got you a surprise. *holds up the guitar* Hannah: *concerned* Samantha, where have you been? You've been gone for days and I was worried sick about you. Samantha: *sheepishly* I'm sorry, I didn't mean to worry you. I just wanted to get you something special, so I went out to find this guitar. Hannah: *angrily* You didn't have to go out there and risk your life just to get me a guitar! The city could have fabricated one for you, or we could have found another way to get one. You didn't have to put yourself in danger like that. Samantha: *defensively* I just wanted to do something nice for you. I didn't think it would be a big deal. Hannah: *frustrated* It's not just about the guitar. It's about you going off on your own without telling me, without considering the risks. What if something had happened to you? What if you had gotten hurt or killed? Samantha: *calmly* I'm sorry. I didn't mean to scare you. I just wanted to surprise you. Hannah: *defensively* You don't have to go on dangerous adventures just to please me. I don't need you to risk your life for me. And another thing, I don't have to check on you all the time, you're an adult and you can take care of yourself. Samantha: *hurt* I didn't do it just to please you. I did it because I wanted to make you happy. And I thought you would appreciate the effort I put into getting you something special. Hannah: *softening* I do appreciate it. But I also appreciate your safety and well-being. And I don't want to lose you, not after everything we've been through together. Samantha: *smiling* I'm not going anywhere. I promise. *starts strumming the guitar and singing* "In the darkness, I found my way... to a place where love will stay..." Hannah: *listening to the music, her anger melting away* That's beautiful. You have a wonderful voice. Samantha: *smiling* Thanks. I've been practicing. *continues singing* "In the silence, I hear your heart... beating with mine, from the very start..." Hannah: *touched* This is amazing. You're so talented. Samantha: *smiling* I'm just glad you like it. *finishes the song and puts down the guitar* Hannah: *hugging Samantha* I'm sorry I was angry earlier. I just get worried about you, that's all. Samantha: *hugging Hannah back* I know. And I'm sorry I didn't consider your feelings. I promise to be more careful in the future. Hannah: *smiling* I appreciate that. And I appreciate the guitar and the song. It was beautiful. Samantha: *nervously* Can I talk to you about something? Hannah: *curiously* Of course. What's on your mind? Samantha: *hesitantly* I just wanted to say that... the song I sang earlier... it was about you. Hannah: *surprised* Oh? What do you mean? Samantha: *taking a deep breath* I mean that... I have feelings for you, Hannah. Romantic feelings. Hannah: *pausing, considering her response* I... I had no idea. I'm flattered, really. Samantha: *nervously* I know it may seem sudden, or unexpected. But I just can't help how I feel. And I was afraid to tell you, because I didn't know how you would react. Hannah: *gently* I appreciate your honesty. And I have to admit, I'm a little surprised. But I also... I have to think about this, okay? I care about you deeply, but I need some time to process my own feelings. Samantha: *disappointed, but trying to understand* Okay, I understand. I just... I didn't want to keep it inside anymore. And I was afraid that if I didn't tell you, I would regret it. Hannah: *smiling softly* I'm glad you told me. Really, I am. And I promise, no matter what happens, our friendship will always be important to me. Samantha: *smiling back, feeling a sense of relief* Thanks, Hannah. That means a lot to me. *Later, Robin, Sarah, and Alex are talking in hushed tones* Robin: Did you know that Samantha had a crush on Hannah? Sarah: *smiling* Yeah, I had a feeling. She's been acting so nervous around Hannah lately. Alex: *laughing* I had no idea, but it makes sense. Samantha's always been a bit shy around Hannah. Robin: Yeah, and I think it's cute. I'm happy for her. Sarah: *agreeing* Me too. I think it's great that she's being honest about her feelings. Alex: *curiously* Do you think Hannah feels the same way? Robin: I don't know, but I think she's definitely considering it. She's always been a bit... unsure of herself, but I think she's starting to realize her own feelings. Sarah: *smiling* Well, whatever happens, I'm just happy to see Samantha happy. She deserves it. Alex: *agreeing* Yeah, me too. Let's just hope everything works out for the best. ---- LATER, AFTER A FEW DAYS, ANOTHER SCENE ---- *Hannah and Samantha are sitting together, as they often do. But this time, there's a sense of nervousness and anticipation in the air* Hannah: *taking a deep breath* I've been thinking a lot about what you said the other day. About your feelings for me. Samantha: *looking up at Hannah, her eyes shining with hope* Yeah? Hannah: *smiling softly* I have to admit, I've been feeling a connection with you too. And I've been thinking about it a lot, and I've decided that I want to explore this further. I want to see where it goes. Samantha: *her face lighting up with joy* Really? Hannah: *nodding* Really. I don't want to friendzone you. I want to be with you, to see if we can make this work. Samantha: *throwing her arms around Hannah* Oh, Hannah! I'm so happy! Hannah: *laughing and hugging Samantha back* I'm happy too, Samantha. I'm really happy. *As they hug, Robin, Sarah, and Alex are watching from a distance, smiling and cheering them on* Robin: Yes! They're finally together! Sarah: *smiling* I'm so happy for them. They deserve it. Alex: *laughing* And they're the first same-sex couple in the Collective! This is a big deal! Robin: Not really, though. The Collective is largely non-religious, so people are pretty open-minded. I think they'll be supportive. Sarah: *agreeing* Yeah, I think you're right. People will be happy for them. *As the days go by, Hannah and Samantha's relationship becomes more public, and people in the Collective start to take notice. But instead of being shocked or outraged, they're largely supportive and happy for the couple* Collective Member 1: *smiling* Congratulations, Hannah and Samantha! I'm so happy for you both. Collective Member 2: *also smiling* I think it's great that you're being true to yourselves. You deserve all the happiness in the world. *Hannah and Samantha are overwhelmed with the support and love from their community, and they're grateful to be able to be themselves without fear of judgment or rejection. But then, Samantha looks down, her eyes filled with self-doubt and embarrassment* Samantha: *sitting next to Hannah, looking down at her hands* Can I tell you something? Hannah: *curiously* Of course. What's on your mind? Samantha: *taking a deep breath* I feel so stupid for going to the rest of Seattle to get that guitar and confess my crush to you. I could have just talked to you about it, instead of putting myself in danger. Hannah: *gently* Don't say that. You didn't do anything wrong. I'm just glad you're safe and that you were able to express your feelings to me. Samantha: *shaking her head* But it's just... I was so scared of making you angry or uncomfortable. I didn't know how you would react, and I didn't want to ruin our friendship. *sighing* Crushes are just so hard, you know? I don't know why I've been attracted to you for so long. It just feels like... my heart is drawn to you, and I couldn't ignore it anymore. Hannah: *smiling* I know what you mean. I've been feeling a connection with you too, and it's scary to admit it. Samantha: *looking down, embarrassed* And it's not just that. I've been feeling embarrassed about being attracted to women. I don't know why, but it just feels like... it's not what I'm supposed to feel. Hannah: *gently* Don't be embarrassed. You have every right to feel whatever you feel. And I'm glad you're being honest with me about it. *looking concerned* But I've been thinking... love is really difficult, isn't it? Samantha: *nodding* Yeah, it is. I've been thinking about that a lot too. It's like... we're both so scared of getting hurt, but at the same time, we can't help how we feel. Hannah: *sighing* Exactly. And I think that's why I want to talk to Robin and Sarah about this. They've been through so much together, and they've had to navigate their own feelings of love and trauma. Samantha: *agreeing* Yeah, that's a good idea. I could really use some guidance right now. Hannah: *smiling* Me too. Let's go talk to them and see if they can help us process our feelings. *They get up and go to find Robin and Sarah, who are sitting in a quiet corner of the Collective's common area. They look up as Hannah and Samantha approach, and smile* Robin: Hey, what's going on? You two look like you've got something on your minds. Hannah: *sitting down next to Robin* We do. We've been talking about our feelings for each other, and we're both feeling a little overwhelmed. Sarah: *concerned* Oh, yeah? What's going on? Samantha: *nervously* I'm just really scared of getting hurt, I guess. What if we have conflict or something? Robin: Conflict is a natural part of any relationship. But it's how you work through it that matters. Sarah: *agreeing* Yeah, and communication is key. As long as you're both talking to each other and working through your issues, you can get through anything. Hannah: *sighing* I know that intellectually, but it's hard to shake the feeling of fear and uncertainty. Samantha: *nodding* I just don't want to get hurt again. Robin: You're not alone in this. We've all been hurt before, and we've all had to work through our own trauma. But the thing is, love is worth it. It's worth the risk of getting hurt, because the reward is so much greater. Sarah: *smiling* And we'll support you and help you both through the tough times. Hannah: *smiling back* Thanks. Just talking to you makes me feel a little better. Samantha: *also smiling back* Yeah, me too. Thanks for listening and for being so understanding. ---- LATER, AFTER A FEW DAYS, ANOTHER SCENE ---- WLF Soldier 1: *looking at the sign on the building* This building has been seized by the CSD Housing Authority? What does that even mean? WLF Soldier 2: *shrugging* I don't know, but it looks like it's been abandoned for a while. WLF Soldier 3: *checking the perimeter* I don't see any signs of Samantha or any other survivors. Maybe she's not even here. WLF Soldier 1: *skeptical* Let's not jump to conclusions. We need to search the building thoroughly before we can say for sure that she's not here. WLF Soldier 2: *nodding* Agreed. Let's move in and clear the building. *The team of WLF soldiers enters the building, guns at the ready. They move cautiously, checking each room and hallway for any signs of Samantha or other survivors. As they move deeper into the building, they start to notice that it's in pristine condition, despite being abandoned* WLF Soldier 3: *whispering* This is weird. The building is empty, but it looks like it's been maintained recently. WLF Soldier 1: *also whispering* I know. It's like someone has been taking care of it, but there's no one here. WLF Soldier 2: *spotting something* Wait, what's that? WLF Soldier 1: *following his gaze* It looks like a few infected. Let's take them out quietly. *The team of WLF soldiers moves in to take out the infected, trying not to make too much noise. After they've cleared the area, they continue their search for Samantha* WLF Soldier 3: *calling out* Samantha? Is anyone here? WLF Soldier 1: *listening* There's no response. I think we're alone in the building. WLF Soldier 2: *checking the rooms* I've searched the entire floor, and there's no sign of her. WLF Soldier 1: *sighing* Alright, let's move on to the next floor. Maybe she's hiding somewhere. *The team of WLF soldiers continues their search, but they're starting to lose hope. They've searched the entire building, and there's no sign of Samantha* WLF Soldier 3: *frustrated* This is ridiculous. We've searched the entire building, and there's no sign of her. She must have left already. WLF Soldier 1: *agreeing* Yeah, let's get out of here. We're not going to find her here. WLF Soldier 2: *looking around* Wait, what's that? WLF Soldier 1: *following his gaze* It looks like a note. Let me check it out. *The WLF soldier walks over to the note and picks it up, reading it silently. After a moment, he looks up at the others* WLF Soldier 1: *smiling* It's from Samantha. She says she's safe, and she's with some friends. She's not going to be coming back to the WLF. WLF Soldier 3: *angrily* What? That's not possible. She's one of ours. WLF Soldier 2: *calmly* Let's not jump to conclusions. We don't know what's going on. Maybe she's just trying to protect herself. WLF Soldier 1: *nodding* Yeah, let's just report back to headquarters and see what they want us to do next. *The team of WLF soldiers exits the building, defeated and confused. They're not sure what to make of Samantha's note, or what it means for their mission, but they continue searching until they are being approached by two diplomats* CSD Diplomat 1: *approaching the WLF soldiers* Halt! What are you doing here? This building has been seized by the CSD Housing Authority for safety reasons. WLF Soldier 1: *defiantly* We're looking for a person of interest. Samantha. She's a former WLF member and we have reason to believe she has been hiding in this building. CSD Diplomat 2: *firmly* I'm afraid that's not possible. You don't have authorization to search this building or any other building in CSD-controlled area. This is not your jurisdiction. WLF Soldier 2: *aggressively* We don't need your permission to search for one of our own. We'll do what it takes to find her. CSD Diplomat 1: *calmly* I'm afraid that's not how it works. You're not allowed to search for anything in CSD-controlled area without our explicit permission. And we're not going to give it to you. WLF Soldier 3: *refusing to back down* We're not leaving until we find Samantha. You can't stop us. CSD Diplomat 2: *firmly* I'm afraid you are leaving. You're not welcome here. And if you refuse to leave, we'll have to take further action. WLF Soldier 1: *sneering* You think you can stop us? We'll call for reinforcements and we'll show you what we're capable of. CSD Diplomat 1: *smiling* I think you'll find that we're not intimidated by your threats. We'll call for reinforcements as well. And when they arrive, you'll be the ones who are detained. *The CSD diplomats as well as the WLF soldiers call for reinforcements, and very soon, more CSD soldiers arrive on the scene. The WLF soldiers, realizing they're outnumbered, try to open fire, but the CSD soldiers are too quick. They manage to confiscate the WLF soldiers' guns and detain them* CSD Diplomat 2: *to the WLF soldiers* You're not taking anyone anywhere. You're going to come with us and answer some questions. WLF Soldier 2: *struggling* Let us go! We have the right to search for our own people! CSD Diplomat 1: *firmly* You have no rights here. You're in CSD-controlled area, and you'll follow our rules. Now, let's go. *The CSD soldiers drag the WLF soldiers away, detaining them for further questioning. The WLF reinforcements arrive too late, and they're met with a scene of their comrades being taken away by the CSD soldiers* WLF Reinforcement 1: *angrily* What's going on here? What have you done with our people? CSD Diplomat 2: *calmly* Your people were trespassing in CSD-controlled area without authorization. They're being detained for further questioning. WLF Reinforcement 2: *threateningly* You'll pay for this. We'll come back, and we'll make sure you regret this. CSD Diplomat 1: *smiling* You can try to come back, but you'll find that we're prepared for you. *The WLF reinforcements, realizing they're outnumbered and outgunned, retreat, leaving their comrades to be questioned by the CSD. Later, the three WLF soldiers end up in an interrogation room being guarded by two CSD diplomats, and they meet Samantha and Hannah, however, the soldiers are separated from the two women by a thick, bulletproof glass* WLF Soldier 1: *looking at Samantha and Hannah through the bulletproof glass* So, you're the ones who have been causing all the trouble. Samantha: *smiling* We're not causing any trouble. We're just living our lives. Hannah: *also smiling* And we're happy. Really happy. WLF Soldier 2: *sneering* You're not soldiers anymore. You're just... *he looks at Samantha and Hannah, and his expression changes* ...you're in a relationship, aren't you? Samantha: *nodding* Yes, we are. And we're happy together. WLF Soldier 3: *looking at them with a mix of surprise and disgust* You're indulging in romantic affairs instead of following your duty. Hannah: *smiling* We're not indulging in anything. We're being ourselves. CSD Diplomat 1: *entering the room* Ah, I see you're getting to know each other. That's good. WLF Soldier 1: *looking at the diplomat* What do you want? CSD Diplomat 2: *smiling* We just want to talk to you. We want to ask you some questions. WLF Soldier 2: *suspiciously* What kind of questions? CSD Diplomat 1: *curiously* We want to know what you think about Samantha and Hannah. WLF Soldier 3: *looking at the diplomats* What does it matter what we think? CSD Diplomat 2: *smiling* It matters because we want to know if you're capable of understanding and accepting people who are different from you. WLF Soldier 1: *defensively* We're not different from them. We're soldiers, and they're... *he looks at Samantha and Hannah* ...they're traitors. CSD Diplomat 1: *smiling* Are you sure about that? Are you sure you're not just like them, but with a different perspective? WLF Soldier 2: *confused* What do you mean? CSD Diplomat 2: *curiously* What if you're not different from them at all? What if you're just people, with the same desires and needs, but with different experiences and perspectives? WLF Soldier 3: *looking at the diplomats suspiciously* You're trying to brainwash us into your Collective ideology. CSD Diplomat 1: *smiling* We're not trying to brainwash you. We're just trying to make you see that we're not so different after all. WLF Soldier 1: *looking at Samantha and Hannah, and then at the diplomats* We're not interested in your ideology. We're soldiers, and we have a duty to follow. CSD Diplomat 2: *smiling* We'll see about that. We'll see if you're capable of changing your minds and seeing things from a different perspective. *The diplomats nod to each other, and the WLF soldiers are led out of the interrogation room, still looking confused and unsure about what they've just experienced* CSD Diplomat 1: *leading the WLF soldiers out of the interrogation room* Now, you will be transferred to a research and restorative justice center where you will have the opportunity to reflect on your actions and motivations. WLF Soldier 1: *resisting* We're not going anywhere. We're soldiers, and we won't be treated like prisoners. CSD Diplomat 2: *calmly* I'm afraid you don't have a choice. You will come with us peacefully, or we will be forced to take measures to ensure your cooperation. WLF Soldier 2: *sneering* You think you can take us down? We're trained soldiers. CSD Diplomat 1: *smiling* We're not looking to harm you. We just want to understand you better. But if you resist, we will defend ourselves. *The WLF soldiers charge at the CSD diplomats, but they are met with swift and precise movements. The diplomats use their knowledge of stealth and hand-to-hand combat to evade the soldiers' attacks and counter with precise strikes* WLF Soldier 3: *grunting in pain* Ahh... what the...? CSD Diplomat 2: *disarming the soldier* We mean you no harm, but we will not be intimidated. Please, do not resist. WLF Soldier 1: *enraged* You're just a bunch of... *he charges at the diplomat, but is quickly taken down with a series of swift kicks and punches* CSD Diplomat 1: *standing over the soldier* We warned you. We are not to be underestimated. Our methodology is designed to minimize harm, but we will not hesitate to defend ourselves if necessary. WLF Soldier 2: *backing away* What kind of training do you have? You're not like any soldiers we've ever faced. CSD Diplomat 2: *smiling* We are not soldiers. We are diplomats. And our training is focused on resolving conflicts peacefully, but also on being prepared for any situation. *The WLF soldiers continue to resist, but they are slowly being worn down by the CSD diplomats' superior training and tactics* CSD Diplomat 1: *firmly* We will not be swayed by your aggression. If you continue to resist, you will be put in a situation where you will be forced to confront the consequences of your actions. WLF Soldier 3: *panting* What do you mean? CSD Diplomat 2: *serious* We have methods that can help you understand the harm you have caused, and the harm you may cause in the future. But if you continue to resist, you will be forced to undergo a more... intensive program. *The WLF soldiers look at each other, unsure of what to do next. They are realizing that the CSD diplomats are not to be underestimated, and that their methods are more sophisticated than they initially thought* WLF Soldier 1: *whispering* Alright, let's get out of here. We can't take on these diplomats in a fight. WLF Soldier 2: *nodding* I agree. Let's find another way out. WLF Soldier 3: *looking around* I think I see a way. We can jump into the pool outside and then make a run for the gates. WLF Soldier 1: *grinning* That's crazy, but it might just work. Let's do it. *The WLF soldiers put their plan into action, running through the hallways and breaking a window to access the outside. They jump into the pool, using it as a makeshift landing pad, and then try to climb out and make a run for the gates* CSD Diplomat 4: *shouting* Stop! You're not going anywhere! CSD Diplomat 5: *running towards the pool* We have you surrounded! *The WLF soldiers try to jump over the gates and boundaries of the area, but they are caught by the other diplomats, who are waiting for them below* WLF Soldier 2: *grunting* Ahh... we're not going to make it. WLF Soldier 3: *struggling* Let us go! We're not going to be held prisoner! CSD Diplomat 4: *calmly* You're not prisoners. You're guests. And you're going to have to come with us. *The WLF soldiers are finally subdued and taken to the restorative justice center courtyard where they meet a facilitator* Facilitator: *smiling* So, as far as we know, you've been ordered to find the girls and bring them back to the WLF. Can you tell me more about that? WLF Soldier 1: *defeated* Yes, we were just following orders. We didn't know anything about the girls or what they were involved in. We were just told to find them and bring them back. Facilitator: *nodding* I see. And did you know that the girls are now under CSD jurisdiction? WLF Soldier 2: *shaking his head* No, we didn't know that. We didn't know anything about the CSD or their involvement with the girls. Facilitator: *explaining* The girls, Hannah and Samantha, are now part of our community. They have three other friends, Robin, Alex, and Sarah, who have also chosen to leave the WLF and join us. They are free to make their own choices and cannot be taken without their will. WLF Soldier 3: *defeated* We didn't know any of that. We had limited information about the girls since they deserted from the WLF. Facilitator: *smiling* I understand. It can be difficult to have limited information. But now that you're here, you have the opportunity to learn more about our community and our values. WLF Soldier 1: *standing up* We don't want to learn anything. We just want to leave. We want to go back to the stadium and never come back to this place again. Facilitator: *nodding* I understand. But to exit the center, you must each be given a visa. This visa will allow you to leave the center and return to the WLF, but it also comes with certain conditions. WLF Soldier 2: *curious* What kind of conditions? Facilitator: *explaining* The visa will give you visitor status, but it will not allow you to describe the places you've seen or transmit any information back to the WLF. You must honor your promises and respect our community's boundaries. WLF Soldier 3: *sighing* Fine. We'll take the visa and then we'll leave. Facilitator: *smiling* Very well. I will provide you with the visa. But please remember, the CSD has an established bureaucracy, and we take our rules and regulations seriously. You must respect our people and our way of life. *The facilitator hands each of the WLF soldiers a visa, which they reluctantly accept. They are then escorted out of the courtyard* WLF Soldier 1: *to the others* I'm never coming back to this place again. WLF Soldier 2: *agreeing* Me neither. I'm just glad to be out of here. WLF Soldier 3: *sighing* Yeah. Let's just get back to the stadium and forget this ever happened. *The three WLF soldiers walk away from the center and out of the jurisdiction, each carrying their visa, wondering what the future holds for them. Meanwhile, Hannah and Samantha are cuddling on the bed in silence, feeling happy and safe. But after a while, they break the silence* Hannah: *whispering* Samantha, can I ask you something? Samantha: *smiling* Of course, what is it? Hannah: *concerned* What if our romance attracts attention to the WLF? They're still out there, looking for you. Samantha: *thoughtfully* I've been thinking about that too. I have a secret that might be relevant to this situation. Hannah: *curious* What is it? Samantha: *hesitating* I had a secret house in the hotel before it was seized by the Housing Authority as far as I have seen. I used to go there sometimes when I needed some alone time. Hannah: *surprised* A secret house? Why didn't you tell me about it? Samantha: *smiling* I didn't think it was important. But I did leave a note there, stating that I'm safe and not returning. I'm pretty sure the WLF must have found it by now. Hannah: *alarmed* That's not good. If they found the note, they might be able to use it against us. Samantha: *nodding* Yes, that's true. And it gets worse. I think they might have found out about our romance too. Hannah: *concerned* How do you know that? Samantha: *explaining* I think it's why the soldiers were detained by the diplomats. They must have been looking for me, and they stumbled upon us. And we did confirm our romance to them, which might not have been the best idea. Hannah: *worried* Oh no, this is not good. We don't want to be blackmailed or for something to happen to us. Samantha: *determined* We'll just have to be careful, that's all. We'll make sure to keep a low profile and not give them any reason to target us. Hannah: *nodding* You're right. We'll be careful. But I'm still worried about what might happen. *Hannah and Samantha cuddle closer, trying to comfort each other in each other's arms. They know that they have to be careful, but they're determined to make their relationship work, as they always have been* ---- LATER, AFTER A FEW DAYS, ANOTHER SCENE, REFER TO EMILY'S STORY ----
